We have had stones thrown at windows with no repercussions for the miscreants but broken glass and fear for us and until my stated complaints became 'the fault' at hand.<br /><br />There are levels indeed.<br /><br />Do I move out of the neighbourhood knowing that with the rise of ignorance seemingly intentionally perpetrated by the defenders of the newly emerging 'order', that I could well find myself in a place of 'from frying pan to fire'?<br />Is safety and piece of mind becoming a byword for a byegone age?<br /><br />I did not know whether to laugh or cry when a white, young, male shop-holder in London commented, when I told him where I was living, 'How on earth could I be living with the whites out there!' Is there in that comment hope or sadness? Maybe both.<br /><br />We, all of us, have a duty to help douse the smouldering ignorance before the winds of change ignite it into a raging fire.<br /><br />I am assured that there are responsible citizens of earth of all hues who are as dismayed as I that your daughter and mine have to face the shards of a troublesome ignorance rather than enjoy childhoods that their forebears won through hard battle.<br /><br />I ought to blog on all my experiences and more, but sometimes I get so worn down and time consumed, defending my daughter and myself from the consuming ignorance that we are seemingly surrounded by, that I keep deferring it.<br /><br />I had to salute you though and extend my sister-mother embrace to you and your daughter, for it should not be like this for either of you.<br /><br />I recall Martin's 'Threats to justice...' quotation and know and I am glad that I can link with those who are as affronted as I am by the behaviour of such as these, usurpers of peace.<br /><br />I recognise though, we cannot rest, and as 'Sweet Honey in the Rock' sings 'We who believe in freedom cannot rest...' I also know that a lack of relaxation gathers tension and causes stress and illness. <br /><br />We have to share the work.
